Legal Document Governance
Document Storage & Retention Policy
Effective: June 2026
This page explains how documents and related information are handled on LegalDocBuilder.com and your responsibilities for retaining copies of important documents.
Local drafts
By default, in-progress drafts are stored in your browser's local storage on the device where you create them. Clearing site data, switching browsers, or using a different device may make a local draft inaccessible.
Cloud sync
When you opt in to cloud sync, drafts and metadata are encrypted in transit and at rest by our infrastructure providers and associated with your account.
Account retention
Account data is retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period thereafter for legal, accounting, and security purposes. You may request deletion as described in our Privacy Policy.
Exported documents
When you export a document (PDF, DOCX, or otherwise), you control the exported file. We do not retain a centralized copy of every export.
User responsibilities
- Keep secure copies of executed documents in storage you control.
- Maintain backups appropriate to the importance of the document.
- Observe any retention or recordkeeping requirements imposed by law, your industry, or your counterparties.
